HOUSE PARENT TRAINING
CONFERENCE HOSTED BY SAFE HAVEN INTERNATIONAL
(also for those
involved in orphanage outreach and ministry to juvenile offenders)
You're invited to a houseparent
training conference!
What:
Two full days and then some, full of helpful, practical information
presented by those who have been there and know what you're going
through! The sessions will give insight and advice on how to be a
houseparent to troubled teens in a Christian group-home environment.
Topics will include: a troubled
teen's worldview, root issues behind difficult behavior, roles of
houseparents and other staff, spiritual aspects of dealing with troubled
teens, conflict resolution, relating to kids and much more! We also hope
this will be a good time of fellowship to meet others in similar
ministries, where we can share and support each other.
Our keynote speaker
will be John Kinsley, from Straight Ahead Ministries. SAM ministers to
juvenile offenders in America, and John has had many years experience
working with troubled teens in various capacities, including as a
houseparent. There will also be information presented based on Safe
Haven's years of experience working with orphaned teens in homes here in
Ukraine.
Who
is invited: Anyone who is (or will be or is thinking about being) a
houseparent in a home for teens. If others from your ministry would like
to attend, such as supervisors, relief houseparents, etc., we'd be glad to
welcome them as well. We hope to gather attendees from all over Ukraine.
Please pass on this information to anyone you think would like to attend.
When:
Tuesday, November 6th through Friday, November 9th. We will meet at the
McDonalds near Kharkivska metro station (in Kiev) on Tuesday afternoon.
There will be a bus to take us to the conference site from there. We will
leave after breakfast on Friday and be back to Kharkivska metro by late
morning.
Please return the registration form and
send payment by October 28th to
ensure a spot at the conference. Space is limited-- first come, first
serve!
Where:
The conference will be held at Kilov, a Christian retreat center to the
south of Kiev.
How much:
The conference will cost $50.00 per person, to be paid before October
28th. To pay, sign into
www.safehaveninternational.org
and click on "donate now". This will take you
to a web page where you can make a donation to Safe Haven. Please "donate"
$50 for each conference attendee and specify that it's for the houseparent
training. This covers meals (dinner Wednesday through breakfast Saturday),
lodging, transportation to and from Kharkivska metro, and training
materials.
Why:
Safe Haven International is hosting this conference to promote networking
between houseparent ministries around Ukraine, and also so that, as the
Body of Christ, we can better minister to the orphaned and at-risk teens
of Ukraine.
