NEW MINISTRY TEAM
FORMED IN MARIUPOL
January 11, 2008
The ministry of Jeremiah's Hope is about to
take on a new level which it has not been able to achieve before.
During
the past year, the teens at the TLC have had 4 different sets of house
parents. The beginning of 2007 saw me leaving the TLC after 3 years as
House Dad, then we hired a Ukrainian couple who resigned after 2 1/2
months because of marital issues, then Alexandra served as a substitute
for a few weeks and the last half of the year saw Lance and Debra Atchison
as the House Parents. With their recent resignation and move back to the
US, the staff of Jeremiah's Hope, along with board encouragement have
considered how to staff the TLC with Ukrainian Christians.
This week, a
ministry team was formed to more effectively minister to the teens living
at the Transitional Living Center.
The team
is as follows:
Tanya - Coordinator of Mariupol Operations (working 9 AM to 5 PM
Monday-Friday)
Alexandra - House Mother (working 24 hours Sat. to Sun., Tues. to Thurs.)
Sveta - Relief House Mother (working 24 hours Monday & Friday)
Julia Grachova - Assistant Helper and Lunch Cook (working 11 AM to 5 PM
Mon. to Fri.)
Evgeny Kapshaw - Bible Study Coordinator (1 evening per week for 1 1/2
hours)
Two of the
team members, Tanya and Alexandra have worked with Jeremiah's Hope since
we opened the TLC in August of 2004, but their roles will be changing with
the new team set-up. Julia is one of our first kids who lived in the TLC
and is now married and living with her husband in their own apartment.
So, it is good to have her "back in the house" as an adult.
I am excited about this team of Ukrainian Christians who are all so eager
to be the "hands and feet" of Jesus to the teens at the TLC. During our
first staff meeting this morning, they each expressed ideas on how to
better involve the kids in church activities and mentoring relationships.
Please keep
Tanya, Alexandra, Sveta, Julia and Evgeney in your prayers as they begin
their new ministry roles with Jeremiah's Hope.
